impact4curator is software for curatorial work with images. It supports curators, artists, galleries and institutions in selecting, judging, ordering and passing on the relevant works from large image holdings in a structured way.

Unlike image-editing or layout programmes, impact4curator concentrates on one clear step in the work: developing a curatorial selection. The result is not a finished layout, but a considered selection of images with a comprehensible structure.

Reviewing and judging images

Images can be imported directly or selected through an integrated source explorer. Star ratings, colour labels, keywords and smart collections help to organise even extensive holdings efficiently.

For precise judgement, comparison views and an enlarged image display are available. An integrated ranking system helps to develop a solid selection step by step out of many works.

The digital light table

The heart of impact4curator is the light table. Here images can be arranged freely, grouped and set in relation to one another.

Positions serve not the later layout, but the work on content: connections, sequences, adjacencies and fields of tension become visible and can be developed deliberately.

Structured hand-over

Once the selection is complete, it can be exported including order, groupings and metadata. Output is a project package for downstream applications, a folder structure, or a ZIP archive.

The design itself is deliberately left to other tools. impact4curator concentrates on what happens before the layout: the selection and structuring of images.

Developed for professional image work

impact4curator was developed specifically for working with images. Videos, documents and other files can be part of a project, but the curatorial tools concentrate consistently on the image as a medium.
